“The glove that makes sounds through touch”

A recent project by an MIT student where a glove makes different sounds depending on what the wearer touches. It’s very much in a prototype stage right now, but what could the implications before having  synesthetic touch-sound experience? Could a wearer learn what objects are depending on the sound? Could other devices interpret what an object is from the sound?
